New engine for Fabia

Skoda is replacing its veteran 1.2 4-cylinder petrol engine for the Fabia with a 1.0 3-pot turbocharged unit, writes Brian Byrne.

The engine will be available in 95hp and 110hp versions, increasing the power and torque. The company claims a 6pc improvement in fuel consumption over the previous engine.

The engine will feature in a revised Fabia and its variants at the Geneva Motor Show next week.
