VW's Shanghai concept will be in production in 2020

Volkswagen is upping its emphasis on a future involving electric cars with the ID Crozz1 crossover concept shown at the Shanghai Auto Show, writes Trish Whelan.

With a claimed 500km range, all-wheel drive, and an autopilot mode, a production version will be along in 2020, according to the company.

The Crozz1 follows concepts of other ID cars in Paris is 2016 and Detroit in 2017.

In size it is smaller than the Tiguan Allspace, but because of its compact powertrain it offers similar space for occupants.
